by Andy Semotiuk – Pace Law Firm: Anyone interested in immigrating to Canada should take a look at this list of occupations in the Federal Skilled Workers program.
From the CIC website:
Between June 26, 2010, and June 30, 2011, a maximum of 20,000 complete Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing. Within the 20,000 cap, a maximum of 1,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing within this same time frame…Applications received toward the overall cap: 8,385 of 20,000 as of February 25, 2011.
Glancing at the numbers, it is plain to see that there is a lot of opportunity to immigrate to Canada under the skilled worker program. Here is a sample of some of the jobs listed, with the total number of applications still available as of February 25, 2011:
Crane Operators: 996
Licensed Practical Nurses: 846
Architects: 495
Physiotherapists: 792
Dentists: 397
Dental Hygienists & Dental Therapists: 986
Chefs: 916
Specialist Physicians: 558
Plumbers: 962
Insurance Adjusters and Claims Examiners: 801
