Jim Moffatt is a senior assistant in Pace Law Firm’s Civil and Commercial Litigation Department, having joined the firm in April, 2008. He attended Carleton University in Ottawa, where he earned his B.A. in Sociology and his B.A. Honours in Psychology. After graduating, Jim worked as a Registrar in training with the Federal Court of Canada, Trial Division.
For the past 30 years, Jim has been employed by Don Fiske, performing a variety of paralegal duties related to commercial litigation. He has acted a process server and carried out commercial investigations and credit checks by doing interviews, conducting watch-briefs of businesses, searching executions, and doing corporate and property searches. He also acted as an agent in Small Claims Court, appearing on Motions and successfully conducting trials.
Jim has also worked as a freelance writer, for many years, specializing in drafting legal briefs and reports, as well as medical literature/research reviews. He provides support to the Civil and Commercial Litigation Department’s lawyers by performing a variety of administrative duties and assisting in the formatting of various documents with lawyers, including Statements of Claim, Mediation Briefs, Pre-Trial Memoranda, and facta.”
